Before & After: Pierre Paulin Ribbon Chair

It’s fun when we get to restore and reupholster a classic, like Pierre Paulin’s Ribbon Chair. It’s better when it’s multiplied!

Pierre Paulin designed the Ribbon Chair in 1966, and it was made in Holland by Artifort. It is considered one of the most comfortable chairs ever, with the contoured foam allowing the user to assume a variety of positions, all while providing the necessary support.

These poor chairs were in sad shape when we received them, having been used & loved for years, so we were thrilled to be able to breathe new life into these classics. The fabric used for the reupholstery was an original 100% wool fabric from the 1950's/1960's from Denmark. The bases were completely refinished as well.

Another example of this chair can be seen here.

"A chair should be more than simply functional. It should be friendly, fun and colorful." -Pierre Paulin

We couldn’t agree more Monsieur Paulin.
