We were going through images recently and came across this
beautiful sofa that we hadn’t shared yet. This was one of a pair that was made
earlier in the year for the Lobby Lounge at the Ace Hotel in Chicago.
This piece has strong lines that are softened with the
single seat and single back bolster cushion, all of which is solid white goose
down and fabricated in vintage black leather. There are three solid Lucite legs
that run front to back, and make the sofa appear to hover off the floor.
Other details include the double top stitching that we used
throughout the piece. While a double top stitch can be busy with a heavy or
densely patterned fabric, on a piece like this, with leather and such clean
lines, it’s perfect.
We originally fabricated this piece as shown above, with the
bolster & single seat fill tight and smooth. After review with our client,
their feedback indicated a more worn, lived-in and casual look, so we decreased
the amount of fill to accommodate the style and look they were after.
