Classic Design sighting :: Goop Pop-up at the Brentwood Country Mart

A while ago we made a beautiful French mattress cushion for one of our clients, using a luxurious grey suede. The end user was Goop, and we’re loving the images of en place at the new Goop Pop-up Shop at the Brentwood Country Mart.

The details on the cushion are what makes it so special – it is lightly tufted with loose leather poms in the center of each tuft. The seams are joined with a simple slip stitch, and the beautiful raised edge bumper gives it just enough structure while remaining casual to eye and comfortable to the seat.

If you are in the Los Angeles area, stop by the Goop Pop-up at the Brentwood Country Mart, it’s a gorgeous store! While you’re there, wander on over to Farmshop for a coffee and have a seat at the bar – we made those barstools too!

If you’re not in the LA area, check out this beautiful story in Architectural Digest Online.

Round Leather Ottoman

It's always fun to make smaller pieces, like this leather ottoman, because the details are so striking and noticeable, and as you probably know, we are all about the details.

We did a double top stitch on the vertical side panels, and single top stitch along the top and they come together beautifully with tone-on-tone thread on this rich, supple leather.

Just the piece to put your feet up on after a long day, or week, right? Netflix & chill all weekend - enjoy yours! Bon weekend!

Classic Leather Club Chairs

We're thinking smoking lounge here, because library chair just doesn't do these club chairs justice! Visualize dark rooms, roaring fire, cognac, a cigar, and okay, some books. Our client does indeed plan to place these in his smoking lounge (not man cave, mind you).

The rich brown leather is so soft, and thanks to the down seat and slight curve to the back, you feel cocooned in comfort as soon as you sit. A perfect chair to relax and lounge in.

The nail head detail up the front arm and along the back sides are a beautiful subtle detail; just enough to make the club chairs interesting while not vying for attention from the design and comfort.

Custom Round Leather Ottomans

These two leather ottomans were just completed for a client in Malibu. They are a great size for the game room they will be living in (36").

One of the details the client requested was a double top stitched and divided panels for the top and sides.

The base was covered in leather as well, and we brought the double top stitching down through the base for continuity. Stitching details like this are gorgeous on leather pieces, even with tone-on-tone thread, like we have here.

Media: luxe. interiors + design

It was such a nice surprise, while flipping through the latest issue of luxe magazine, to see the beautiful story on a home Los Angeles designer Audrey Alberts designed. And then we came upon the set of nesting ottomans we made for the residence - even better!

We finished this project over 2 years ago, and love seeing how the piece is used in-residence. Here are some photos from our files.

It was a fun piece - nesting a set of four small ottomans together to make a large ottoman, or coffee table, allows for such versatility. And the recessed base (also leather covered) gives it that ethereal, floating aspect.

Brass coffee table with leather inserts, from concept to reality

We just finished this beautiful brass coffee table for a client. It's a large piece, and quite heavy, but the details and design are worth it.

When we work with our clients, after all details are determined, the proposal signed and the deposit is received, we get to work. Usually this begins with sketch - we don't use any computer generated design programs. We are old school, so this is a hand sketch with as many details as possible included. Here's an example for this particular project (with the proprietary details removed):

We send this to the client for approval, or revision, and do not go into production until it is approved in writing. After approval, materials are sourced & procured; depending on the piece, a full scale sketch, or template, is made for our workshop - and we go from there! Timeframe depends on the current workroom schedule, production deadlines, and the type of piece we are making.

The table top and bottom shelf were fabricated in leather - 3 leather panels actually - with stitch detail on each panel, and the brass was finished with a antique patina.

It's so fulfilling to see projects come to fruition, and we're sure this table looks lovely in its' new home!

White Leather Custom Bed

This California King custom bed we just finished is fabricated in white leather, with stitching details on the headboard & box spring frame.

There is a metal plate detail across the top of the headboard, which is replicated in the recessed base as well. Both pieces have a hand patina finish that contrasts beautifully with the crispness of the white leather.
